Kasama ware

Kasama ware is a pottery produced around Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture. It is made from Kasama clay excavated from the Kanto loam layer. Kasama clay is clay produced by weathering and depositing granite (granite) from the Kasama area to Mt. Tsukuba. Clay is not only sticky and easy to mold, but also has the characteristic of becoming colored after firing because it contains iron.
